Whats the strangest thing you ever reeled in?
Weather it be a strange fish or junk off the bottom. Whats the biggest surpize u ever had on the end of your line? I`ve seen everything from lawn funiture to a Loon. Andy
A VERY large and angry Sea Gull ... lure hit him in mid-cast and unfortunately (for me) it was NOT a LDR!! Took 3 of us to free him and my biggest regret was we never thought to take photos!!
My wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same thing happened to me Boyder. I was casting a minnow style bait when a seagull dove for it when it hit the water. I was alone, what a battle, first to get him o the boat, then to release him.
Mark you musta been in the dog house LOL. Thats funny i snagged a snapping turtle too. Nasty sucker. Found a Turkey buzzard helpless trying to swim once. We netted him and dumped him on a dock. My buddy got a Pete Maina rod and reel combo. It`s amazing what happens fishing. Andy
My Dad is the one that has a knack for catching weird items. He's caught a pair of sunglasses, 2 anchors, and an old rod and reel.

Seagull for me. It flew into my line as i was mid cast and the line wrapped around it's wing. I reeled the thing in, grabbed it by the back of the neck and let it go. Too bad i only had my cell phone camera along that day. Pretty crazy though.
My partner and I were fishing for steelhead in the Little Calumet River in Indiana when-----believe it or not----he pulled up a "PIPE BOMB" on the end of his slip bobber rig. A pipe---capped at both ends-----with a wick protruding out the side of the 10 inch long 1inch diameter pipe. those Indy trout sure are TOUGH!----Pat Elza
I was wading in the manitowac river fishing for smallmouth when i hooked a 3/4 decayed dead canada goose and i needed to get my lure back it smelled so bad i threw up. Luckily that same lure afterwards caughts several nice smallies.
While walleye fishing with my sister, she pulled in a salamander. Got a great pic of her holding the line above the hook, with the squirmy sucker hanging off.

When I was about 12 I caught a fishing pole that had a live worm still on the hook. We were drifting for walleye & a 12' boat drifting ahead of us had a man & woman in the boat. Shortly after they left we drifted over there spot & I reeled in my line only to find some purple tint line on the end. It was a 5'6" Diawa rod with a gold Diawa spincaster on it.
I caught a seagull that same year. I was casting out & the gull flew through my line. It took a while to get him untangled & afterwards I reeled in the rest of my line & had a redear sunfish on the end.
I also caught a truck or car steering box in Houghton Lake a few years back.
Snagged a good sized snapping turtle last year.
Pat! A Pipe Bomb!! WOW!! Did you guys contact the authorities and everything? Sounds like someone may have been fishing "Bubba-style" and had a dud ...
Hey Mark---we contacted the local indy police but I think they thought we were "kidding" because they didn't send an officer out to investigate. My same buddy also caught a black bra in that stretch of river-----I guess I was using the wrong bait that day. Take care-----Pat Elza
Watched a guy I was with hook into a beaver, those things put up a fight.
Well this will be my first post here. last spring while steelhead fishing I hooked and landed a really nice winchester knife. I also landed a steelhead that was hooked on a spawn bag, the cool thing about that was that I hooked someone else's leaded through the eye of their swivel, I was kinda confused when i fought the fish up to the bank and I could see my hook about 4 feet above the fish.
Lotta Seagulls LOL.
I was fishing with my son Zach. We were fishing small spinners shallow for pike when Zach reeled in a clam that had actually closed its shell on the treble hook.
I have caught everything to huge snapping turtles, to small painter turtles. I also have some how hooked a duck salmon fishing, and a stupid muskrat. Once the muskrat new he was hooked he seemed to want to kill me. I was able to whip the hooks out of him before he made it to me. I think he was as confused as I was.

Caught and released a turtle by accident and also a kite......the turtle gave a battle, I thought I had hooked a carp at first but the I saw the shell.....if you ever want to stretch out your line, I recommend hooking about a 10 lb snapping turtle
